Jessica’s career as an inventor and entrepreneur began at the age of 19, when she invented the SOCCKET ball, an energy generating soccer ball that provides off-grid power for the developing world. At the age of 22, she became the Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer of Uncharted Play, Inc., where she currently drives the creative vision of an award-winning social enterprise with a mission to disarm social ills by inspiring people to lead playful lives. Expanding her reach to global infrastructural projects, at the age of 26, Jessica became a co-Founder and Executive Director for KDDC, a 30 megawatt hydropower dam in Nigeria—one of the first to be privatized in the country.
Working with governments in the U.S. and internationally, Jessica was invited by President Barack Obama to the White House to represent small companies for the signing of the America Invents Act in 2012, and currently serves as an Ambassador of Entrepreneurship for Nigeria.
Jessica’s research and career centers around disruptive technology, consumer behavior, and social psychology. A dual citizen of Nigeria & the U.S., Jessica has a degree in Psychology and Economics from Harvard University, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Her list of accolades include the Forbes 30 under 30 list in 2014, Black Enterprise’s Innovator of the Year in 2013, Scientist of the Year by the Harvard Foundation (2012), and CNN Money's Upstart 30 List (2015).
Director of Marketing & Public Relations
Tiana manages the company's marketing, branded content, press outreach, sales, and social media.
Prior to joining Uncharted Play, Tiana worked as an NYC independent film producer. Her credits include the Emmy and Golden Globe winning GREY GARDENS, MARIA MY LOVE, which premiered at the 2011 TriBeCa Film Festival and won best US Feature at the 2011 HBO NY Latino Film Festival, THE WARRIOR AND THE SAVIOR, which premiered at the 2013 St. Tropez International Film Festival and the 2013 GenArt Film Festival, and the upcoming HELLO, MY NAME IS DORIS starring Academy Award Winner Sally Field and Max Greenfield. Tiana also worked as a producer for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation on their Measures of Effective Teaching Project.
Tiana graduated from Harvard University with a BA in Visual and Environmental Studies, focusing on documentary film, and received an MFA in Creative Producing from Columbia University. She also earned a Certificate of Readiness from Harvard Business School, with a focus on Business Analytics, Economics for Managers, and Financial Accounting.
Talar manages field partnerships with NGOs, develops curricula around UP products, and provides continuous monitoring and evaluation of impact metrics.
Prior to joining Uncharted Play, she worked with the Growth team at charity: water, a non-profit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations. She also conducted fieldwork at the School for International Training in Uganda.
Talar graduated from Wellesley College with a BA in Peace & Justice Studies, and a concentration in international development.
Product Development Manager
Kevin manages the design, development and evaluation of new and existing Uncharted Play products.
Prior to joining Uncharted Play, he was a project assistant at NYU Langone Medical Center providing services for the medical department of NYC Metropolitan Transit Authority. Kevin also worked as a Research Assistant in various Biomedical/Biomechanical laboratories, offering technical support and instrument fabrication.
Kevin graduated from New York University with a MS in Ergonomics and Biomechanics, and received a BS in Biomedical Engineering from University of California, Davis.
Dan works on the design, development, and evaluation of new and existing Uncharted Play products.
Prior to joining Uncharted Play he worked with the Hone Research Group at Columbia University developing novel approaches for the synthesis of graphene through Chemical Vapor Deposition. Dan also worked with the Columbia Engineers Without Borders chapter to provide better water access to a community in Obodan, Ghana.
Dan graduated from Columbia University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering.
Retail Logistics Manager
Jared manages the company's online retail store, new product launch, and creates and innovates with the rest of the team.
Prior to connecting with the Uncharted Play team, Jared worked in Talent Management/Development in the Music Industry. His past work experiences include working as Personal Assistant to International Superstar, “Lil’ Wayne”, and touring the United States with International Superstar “Drake”. Jared is the Founder of RecThisCity Management, a music management service, whose primary client is “Jitta On The Track”.
Jared attended Northeastern University with a BA in Entrepreneurship and Music Industry.
Assistant to the CEO
Prior to joining Uncharted Play, Ryan spent his career designing for fashion and interior labels. When he's not in the office, he spends his time organizing his record collection and producing music and mix tapes.
Ryan graduated from Green Mountain College with a degree in Fine Art, and a concentration in Environmental Studies.
